DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY, INCORPORATED was founded on HOWARD UNIVERSITY’S campus by 22 women on January 13, 1913. They wanted to promote academic excellence and provide assistance to those in need. They had a directive to the constructive development of the members and the public service with a primary focus on the Black community.

Since its founding, more than 200,000 members have been officially initiated to membership. To be sure, like every other fraternity and sorority, there are simply too many positive and powerful women of DST to name! The organization is a sisterhood of predominantly Black college-educated women. Currently, boasting over 1,000 chapters in collegiate and alumnae chapters located in Canada, Japan, (Toyko and Okinawa), Germany, The Virgin Islands, Bermuda, The Bahamas, Jamaica, and The Republic of Korea!
